Biosecurity in Tasmania

Biosecurity in Tasmania deals with the protection of industries and the environment, health and safety from the negative impacts of pests, diseases and weeds.

The Department  of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) is responsible for biosecurity control in partnership with the community and industry.

The key goals of the Tasmanian Biosecurity Policy is to minimise the threat to primary industry, the natural environment and public health from disease and pests associated with plants and plant products brought into the State.
